About NIFT KANGRA

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), founded in 1986, is the country's pioneering institute of fashion education, and it has been at the forefront of supplying professional human resources to the textile and clothing industries. It was established as a formal institute by an Act of the Indian Parliament in 2006, with the President of India serving as a 'Visitor,' and it now has full-fledged campuses around the country.

Kangra Center, located in the gorgeous Kangra Valley and overlooking the majestic Dhauladhar Himalayan Ranges, began its journey in 2009, mirroring the vision of NIFT. On August 5, 2009, the Minister of Textiles, Mr Shankar Singh Waghela, and the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, inaugurated the center, which has begun to play an important role in contributing to various segments of the textile, apparel, lifestyle accessories, and fashion communication industries. Besides, well-established fashion-related industries in and around the county, NIFT Kangra students have access to and opportunities in non-traditional industries such as E-commerce, Multimedia, and start-ups.

Many NIFT Kangra students form and collaborate with diverse professional teams to deliver innovative products and services. The institute frequently invites industry experts, renowned artists and designers, and well-established alumni to share their valuable experiences with students.
