Throughout the course, students participate in a variety of learning activities, workshops, and projects that provide them with practical experience based on the curriculum of NIFT Kangra as well as the students' individual interests.

The NIFT entrance examination is a test offered by the institute to take admission into the institute. For undergraduate B.Des programs at NIFT, Kangra is determined by the marks gained in a written examination that includes a Creative Writing Test (CAT) and a General Ability Test (GAT), followed by a situational analysis test taken by shortlisted students. BFT at NIFT Kangra is determined by the results of the General Ability Test (GAT).

There are well-qualified professors at the National Institute of Fashion Technology who are quite knowledgeable about the subjects. NIFT Kangra curriculum includes dyeing, weaving, design process, embroidery, and so on. Textile design is then separated into two parts, one for the home and the other for a deeper grasp of each category. • NIFT has conducted a nationwide sizing survey in order to create India's first country-sized particular chart, which would provide Indians with better-fitting clothing.
• Gender, location, and age will be collected as part of the mapping survey.
• The first round of the survey will concentrate on creating a size chart for persons aged 15 to 65, while the second step will map sizes for children and footwear.

All final-year students participate in the Graduation Project, in which they are assigned to a specific industry house for six months and work on specific projects or briefs assigned by the host company and related to real-life experience. This allows the student to apply what he or she has learned in the classroom to actual industry requirements and expectations.

The majority of the student's learning output manifests itself in practical explorations and presentations, which the student undertakes as both individual and group projects. This not only supplements the student's practical learning but also improves soft skills like time management, teamwork, stress management, and professional presentation techniques.

The International Linkages and Exchange Programs at NIFT Kangra have been strengthened further to allow for student and faculty exchanges as well as joint research projects. The outbound mobility of NIFT Kangra students increased during the academic year 2017-18.

• Ms Anubha Arora is currently enrolled in the student semester exchange program at ENSAIT in France.
• Ms Aishwaryashree has been selected for the dual degree program at FIT in New York, USA.
• Ms Disha Ahuja and Ms Shailja Bohara, both semester IV students at NIFT Kangra, have been selected for semester exchange programs at Swiss Textile College and Saxion College of Arts, respectively.
